2016 Louisville’s Lovin’ the Hills

This is a wonderful trail race in Jefferson Memorial Forest.   The race was started by Eric Grossman several years ago.  At that time there was only a 50k and just a few of us.   It was a challenge and so became known as the hardest 50k around.   When Eric moved Brenda Gutman and Joan Wood took over, adding the 15 miler.  The race continued to grow and when Brenda moved I took over.  The race has changed over the years due to changes in the trails.  Scotts Gap was closed several years, the red trail changed last year and this year there is a new Yost trail.  This remains a  hard course but Yost will now be a fast section to run because the trails are wider with less incline.  Last year we added a 6 miler for those who would like to try trail running or just want a shorter distance.

The weather has been cold and snowy to warm and mild.   I love the snow because the trail is so beautiful then.  Any weather I think you will enjoy this race.  We serve hot coco and warm soups afterwards.

Ed Kirk  has done so much work on the trails and helped with planning the course for many years.  He has a blog that keeps updates and information about the race.  llth50.blogspot.com/  Any questions feel free to ask.

First 200 people to sign up for the 50k or the 15 miler will receive Buffs.

February 3, 2016 online registration closes.

You can register at packet pickup on Feb. 5 and the morning of the race at race site.
