Building on our committed focus to support and encourage entrepreneurism and local business sustainability in every corner of our city, the Louisville Independent Business Alliance is excited to partner with the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, Louisville Free Public Library and several others to welcome renowned Author and Professor Jessica Gordon Nembhard in a panel discussion on her book, “Collective Courage.”
In this widely acclaimed piece, Nembhard takes a comprehensive look at the history of Black cooperatives, and inspires timely ways to explore economic empowerment now. We urge the entire community to participate in what will certainly be a dynamic event.
On Monday, March 6, from noon-1:30p, Nembhard will join Louisville Urban League President Sadiqa Reynolds, and Prof. Ariana Levinson of the Brandeis School of Law in a panel discussion on diversity, cooperative economics, and the law.
With such a powerful resource coming to town, LIBA is happy to announce that we will be hosting a pre-panel reception (10:30am-11:30am, RSVP here) to introduce LIBA Members and city leaders to Nembhard and her amazing work.
Professor Nembhard will be on hand to discuss her book. We will also have our community partners on hand to encourage conversations around strengthening the local business economy in West Louisville, and hope to use the reception to help frame the panel event that will follow. Light refreshments will be served, and the LIBA team will be present to share on our efforts in the city. As LIBA seeks to expand efforts in West and South Louisville, we proudly encourage all members to participate in the reception and panel event.
The economic future of Louisville rests on our collective ability to ensure that every citizen has the tools to create wealth and ownership. With LIBA, we recognize the invaluable role local business has in making that aim a reality. We hope you will be able to join us in welcoming Jessica Gordon Nembhard on March 6th, and ask that you stay tuned for further upcoming initiatives in West and South Louisville.
