Supported Employment is an unfamiliar term to many, but it is becoming a more mainstream and worthwhile option for many businesses. Supported Employment utilizes the time and talent of Individuals who have not recently been in the workforce for a variety of reasons that could include a disability, recent immigration, addiction recovery, or those with a record who have repaid their debt to society. These job candidates are often not thought of as a traditional applicant, but with the right supports (provided by a variety of agencies at little to no charge) can be valued employees who now have a brighter future. Supported employment jobs have a wide skill range as well as time commitment – from “micro-hiring” for a couple hours a week, to full time.
