Ron Knox, a senior researcher at The Institute for Local Self-Reliance, has been studying and writing about monopoly power for more than a decade. In this talk, Ron will discuss how monopoly power and corporate concentration hurts small businesses in two related ways: by cornering markets through unchecked mergers, and by bullying suppliers to get lower prices and better access than smaller, main street stores. We'll also discuss actions small businesses can take to encourage regulators and Congress to enforce the law and fight back against outsized corporate power.
