Doing Good by Doing Business

Giving back to the community as a business doesn't have to only mean writing a check. Discover how much more meaningful (and profitable) engagement can be when businesses and nonprofits collaborate to further the mission of both!

Join LIBA and Canopy on November 10 at 8:30 for a joint event entitled Elevate Biz: Doing Good by Doing Business, a panel discussion featuring successful local business and non-profit partnerships that explores how businesses of all sizes can identify opportunities that align with their needs, resources, and values. We want attendees to leave thinking beyond "How can my business support a nonprofit?", instead considering "What could my business and a nonprofit accomplish together?"

The panel will be moderated by Scott Koloms, founder and CEO of Canopy Kentucky, who will share about Canopy's partnership with Metro United Way in the organizations' new initiative, Mission Marketplace. Other panelists include:

    • Josh Williams, Executive Director of Strategy & Transformation at Metro United Way, leading the pilot partnership for Mission Marketplace
    • Rhona Kamar, Executive Director & Founder of FEED Louisville and Zest, Mission Marketplace pilot partner
    • Alisa Gray, President & CEO of Kentucky Humane Society, partnering with Working Cats for businesses and adoptions
    • Theresa Reno-Weber, CEO of GoodMaps, launched out of the American Printing House for the Blind

Before the discussion, enjoy coffee and light breakfast while browsing a nonprofit info fair for an opportunity to meet local nonprofits, learn about their work, and discover potential connections.

Schedule:

    • 8:30am - Nonprofit "info fair" and coffee & breakfast
    • 9:00am - Doing Good by Doing Business panel discussion
    • 9:45am - Audience Q&A
    • 10:00am - Event concludes
