Carmichael's Bookstore - 2720 Frankfort Ave.
Carmichael's is very pleased to host award-winning and bestselling author Lee Smith for a reading from and signing of her new novel "Guests on Earth."
The year is 1936 and Evalina Toussaint is just thirteen when she is admitted to Highland Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. A child piano prodigy, she becomes the accompanist for the musical programs at the hospital and meets such notable guests as Zelda Fitzgerald. "Guests on Earth," Smith's first novel in six years, is a mesmerizing story about a time and a place where creativity and passion, theory and medicine, fact and fiction, are luminously intertwined by a writer at the height of her craft.
